FALL AND BALANCE ARTICLES

Many articles have recently been published in professional health care journals on the subject of balance and fall prevention.

Please contact us for current information.

Newspapers and general news sources have also focused on balance and fall prevention.

Roger Van Haaften was recently featured in a newspaper article because his company, Orthotics Geriatrics, Inc. was exhibiting at the Mid America Senior Spring Show in Mystic Lake, Minnesota. The show annually attracts a large number of senior citizens and Van Haaften offered screenings with his Better Balance platform and Better Balance braces. He has worked with seniors, forcusing on their feet and footwear, for about 14 years.

" 'There is a great need in the area of fall prevention,' said Van Haaften... The focus is on the prevention of falls for seniors. As we age, we lose balance. We have more and more falls. If a person falls and gets a broken hip and ends up in bed, a lot of times they never get out of bed.' "

" 'We measure a person's balance, looking to see if they are at-risk for falling. It's a short test.' Actually, it's four ten-second tests that measure a person's stability. Based on the results of the tests, the person is measured for an ankle brace that will be custom-made to that person's foot."
